12/24/2022 0 Comments Input gps waypoints with gpsbabel![]() ![]() The Ubuntu version of GPSBabel put lots of entries with no name at the end of the CUP file. I don't know if that is a useful clue (not if you don't think of this as a bug) but I thought I'd mention it.ģ. By my count there are 431 placemarks in the input kml file and only 291 rows in the output cup file.Ĭan you reproduce this behavior? Do you consider it a bug? It would be great to at least get a warning when input placemarks are skipped while creating a cup file.Ī number of the placemarks that were skipped have a StyleURL that includes something like The Ubuntu version of GPSBabel skipped multiple placemarks WITHOUT WARNINGS when creating the CUP file. I suspect it has something to do with differences in how end of lines are handled by default in Linux and Windows.Ģ. ![]() If I understand the issue correctly, many Windows-only users would never figure it out. However, when I use Excel on Windows or LibreOffice Calc on Ubuntu to open the CUP file created by the Windows version of GPS Babel the first field in the second record contains HTML instead of a record for the second placemark in the input KML file.Ĭan you reproduce this behavior? Do you consider this a bug in the Windows version?Īt the least it would be good if there were some warning to the user regarding this issue, as I spent a while on this until I figured out what was happening. The output CUP files are different sizes, and LibreOffice Calc properly opens the CUP file created by the Ubuntu version of GPS Babel. The Ubuntu and Windows versions generate in different output files for the same input file (link in previous e-mail). So far I see at least two issues (possibly you will consider them bugs) in GPSBabel, but as always, I could be wrong.ġ. ![]() Thanks for the prompt response! It took me longer than I expected to reply because I had trouble coming to the conclusions below. ![]()
